Paragon Changes
Many players at Paragon Level 99 were stuck waiting to defeat Phangwrth, Warmth-Feaster before reaching Paragon Level 100 and Hell Difficulty II. If you chose or were not aware that you needed to beat Phangwrth to progress, you would not be able to go past Paragon Level 99 and would no longer progress, effectively in Paragon purgatory.
We have since removed the need to defeat Phangwrth to continue levelling to Paragon Level 100. This gives you the ability to gain more strength to return and take down Phangwrth to advance to Hell Difficulty II.
Inferno I Combat Rating Changes
We are lowering the requirements for Inferno I from Combat Rating 34900 to Combat Rating 30120 to make it easier for players to reach this increased challenge. We have also lowered the requirements for facing numerous Helliquary bosses in Inferno Difficulty I and Hell Difficulty III.
Battles Pass UI Updates
Starting with the Devouring Mists Battle Pass, we are updating to a redesigned Battle Pass Main Screen and Codex.
The themed UI on the Main Screen and Codex for each Battle Pass will be reduced to the Seasonal icon and color that represents the Battle Pass theme.
The new UI interface is inspired by Ancients’ Cradle, mixing angelic shapes and an inner demonic nature. The Codex now also displays a timer which indicates the remaining days of the Battle Pass left to make sure you don’t miss out on when the current one ends!
Battlegrounds Resonance Notification
In Battlegrounds, we have changed how we’re matchmaking to player power rather than simply using Resonance levels. Matchmaking for Battlegrounds based off Resonance levels didn’t fully capture a player’s true power, often leading to uneven matches when a player’s entire host of skills and abilities were considered.
We will now use a new system for matchmaking that takes comprehensive combat power for matchmaking, which better represents a player’s overall power.
Developer’s Note: We found that using Combat Resonance and four-dimensional attributes (Level, Battlegrounds Match score, Resonance Level) to matchmake couldn’t fully capture a player’s overall power. This led to instances where players of a similar calculated rating could have vastly different player power, which was a frustrating experience.
To solve this problem, we instead chose to use comprehensive combat power for matchmaking. Comprehensive combat power is calculated based on all your player abilities and power. This includes Life, Damage, the previously mentioned four-dimensional attributes, damage reduction and damage increase of Daedessa, Legendary Gems, and more.
This should more accurately judge your overall combat ability, which combined with new matchmaking rules, can bring better balanced matches in Battlegrounds.
Battlegrounds Legendary Rank Notification
Upon reaching Legendary rank in Battlegrounds, some players gave feedback that they started to encounter players with far higher Resonance Levels compared to their own. Once you reach Legendary Rank, Resonance Level isn’t as impactful when matchmaking. Upon reaching above 3500 Battleground Score, Resonance Level is no longer considered when matchmaking.
These rules have been in place for a long time, but to help avoid confusion we’ve added a notification that explains matchmaking at the Legendary rank.
Upon reaching Legendary rank, there will be a notification that explains the matchmaking changes relative to your Resonance Level. To view this information, you can select the info button within the main Battlegrounds screen to learn more.
Accursed Towers Updates and Season End
We have extensive changes coming to Accursed Towers with our next Major Update!
Ahead of these changes, we wanted to let players know that this current season of Accursed Towers will end after server maintenance has concluded for the Major Update. On season end, we will send out the final rewards for the shortened season.
Hellslayer Bounties and Oblivion Pillars Difficulty Changes
We have modified Hellslayer Bounties’ difficulty, which will make them easier to complete. Happy slaying!
Terror Rift Performance Optimizations
We are making performance updates to Terror Rifts on all platforms. Expect the same amount of monsters and chaos thrown your way, but we will be tweaking this game mode internally for performance to be as smooth as possible.
Most of the performance changes are tied to game mechanics, monster spawn times, and the behavior of packs of monsters.
Abyssal Essence Tutorial
We have recently made improvements to Abyssal Verge and Castle Erebban across our last few content updates.
With these upcoming changes, there will be a UI tooltip to prompt you to find the Abyssal Essence in your inventory. After collecting 10 Abyssal Essence, you’ll then be prompted to hand these over to Rayek for a guaranteed Rune.
Trial of the Hordes Updates and Matchmaking Changes
When playing Trial of the Hordes, we’ve made updates so that you’ll be far less likely to encounter the same opponents two matches in a row.
Additionally, when speaking to The Helltamer, you’ll now be able to find a button that displays your Stats near the Leaderboard button. This new screen will give you more details about your performance during Trial of the Hordes, such as Total Matches, Wins, Win Rate and Longest Win Streak.
Friends List Private Status Updates
When setting your visibility to “Appear Offline,” this status now properly hides your status to Warbrands and Clans in addition to friends. This visibility can be changed further in the settings.
Optimizing Damage-Over-Time Skills
We are making performance improvements to some of the damage-over-time skills in-game to help overall performance. Changes have been made to the following Legendary items which have a sizable Ignite de-buff:
Barbarian
- Hell’s Legacy
- Sundered Legacy
Demon Hunter
- Hellbinder
These skills will now be active for 0.5 seconds rather than 1 second, but now do double the damage. Overall, these skills still output the same amount of damage.
Legendary Gem Market Price Changes
We are lowering the Minimum market prices for some gems. The following Gems can now be posted to sell at the following amounts:
- Normals Gems: reduced to 50 Platinum from 100
- 1-Star Legendary Gems: unchanged
- 2-Star Legendary Gems: reduced to 1,600 Platinum from 2,000
- 5-Star Legendary Gems: reduced to 12,800 Platinum from 16,000
This now balances the minimum prices for all qualities of Legendary Gems at a flat cost of 400 Platinum per gem power.
Region-Specific Game Additions
Below you will find a region-specific update coming with this update to the version of Diablo Immortal available in China. We are listing out features that will come to Diablo Immortal in all other regions, and some that are solely coming to the version of Diablo Immortal available in China.
Rune System UI Changes
We have introduced several UI updates to the Rune system. The text that displays rune names will match the quality of the rune itself. The item information UI has been updated when providing information for Runes that can be embedded and the ones that can’t. When class-specific runes are embedded in items that aren’t available for the current class, they will be displayed in the inventory.
Fixed the issue that runes and ordinary gems can’t be found after changing classes. They’ll now be automatically removed from the items they were embedded in. The icon sizes of different rune qualities have been reduced. We’ve made optimizations to various parts of the rune system.
Region-Specific Additions Solely for Diablo Immortal in China
Below are the region-specific updates solely coming to the version of Diablo Immortal available in China.
Various Game Optimizations
We’ve made changes to that animations can be skipped during Helliquary boss fights, and when submitting Monstrous Essence at the Bestiary.
Abyssal Verge and Castle Erebban Changes
We have added Battle Pass Points as a potential reward in Castle Erebban and Abyssal Verge game modes.
Random Dungeon Button Issues
We’ve removed the issues where the button for the Random Dungeon Finder is sometimes blocked when the minimap is set to large.
